Rx: Pets R.E.A.D.s with Kids

Rx: Pets has several Pet Partner Teams who are also Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.®) in Redding and Eureka.  The program is active in several schools and Libraries in Redding & Eureka.  If you would like to become an Rx: Pets team, the place to start is the courses tab on this site. 

R.E.A.D. ® at the Redding Library ~ The 3rd Saturday of Every Month

The children of Shasta County (under 12) are invited to READ to Rx: Pets Canine Pet Partners®.

Rx: Pets has expanded their community efforts to include the highly successful R.E.A.D.® Program designed by Intermountain Therapy Animals in Salt Lake City, Utah. This program helps improve the literacy skills of children and assists with self-esteem issues or learning challenges.

Parents or guardian’s are required to be in attendance for the 30 minute session. Children will be signed in and out by a parent or guardian when arriving in the Children’s Library.

Children will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis.
