Is your pet reliable, controllable and predictable?
Then you would make an excellent Pet Partner®
Team and Prescription:
Pets volunteer!! |
|
Prerequisites: |
Dogs must be one year of age and in your home for one year prior to
the Pet Partner evaluation. Other domestic pets are welcome (ie:
rabbits, cats, rats, birds). We recommend a recent obedience course
with your dog in preparation for the Pet Partner Workshop. This is
a good way to “predict” your dog’s behavior with people and other
dogs, prior to the Pet Partner Evaluation. |
|
Goal:
|
Maintain standards of professionalism for the field of
animal-assisted activities (AAA) and animal-assisted therapy (AAT);
helping AAA & AAT to become widely recognized as valuable forms of
treatment. |
|
Activity objectives: |
|
Upon completion of this program, the healthcare professional will: |
|
Describe the impact and benefits AAA and AAT on the patient and when
it is appropriate to set goals for the plan of care. |
|
Locate resources and science referencing Pet Partner
visits, the human/animal bond and how this affects your patients. |
|
Review questions/concerns of administrators and staff regarding
infection control, animal behavior and responsibilities of the
handler while in the healthcare facility. |
