Welcome to Prescription: Pets
Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Prescription: Pets has been bringing the healing power of pets to communities in Northern California since the year 2000. Our volunteer pet partner teams are trained for animal-assisted activities (AAA) and animal-assisted therapy (AAT), and as Read With Me teams. We have teams that visit many locations around Northern California including; Mercy Hospital in Redding, Mercy Mt. Shasta, Copper Ridge, Oakdale Heights, The Vista, One Safe Place, The Redding Library and various schools for Read With Me.

Meet Arlene and Jacquelyn

Arlene and JQ visit the Cal-Vet Home in Redding on a weekly basis, and have been doing so since October 2014.

Arlene has been with Prescription Pets for eighteen years. She spent many years visiting at Mercy Hospital with her first dog, Cypress. When Cypress retired she began visiting with JQ. Arlene has focused on helping new teams through the mentoring program for many years.
