PRESCRIPTION PETS THERAPY DOGS UPDATE
Dear Prescription Pets Therapy Dogs Teams,
Here are updates from our Board Meeting last week.
🐕🦺 One of our yearly fundraisers has been Christmas package wrapping at Barnes & Noble. B&N is not hosting the wrapping this year.
🐕🦺Our main fundraiser this year is Giving Tuesday presented by North State Gives. It will run for 14 hours on November 30, 2021. Mark your calendars. Early giving will start on 11/16/21. Start thinking about who you think would donate to our organization through North State Gives. More details to follow.
🐕🦺Pam Ward and Diana Stockwell presented our “How to Become a Therapy Dog Team” Workshop on 9/17. There were three attendees. If you know of anyone who would be interested in this workshop, please pass their name on to me.
🐕🦺There will be an ATD Testing conducted on 10/15/21 (Friday). If you are interested in being tested or know of someone who may be interested, please let me know.
🐕🦺Unfortunately the visit to Shasta County Public Health staff was cancelled due to heavy smoke. Many thanks to Marilyn Graham for agreeing to head up the visit and understanding the cancellation.
🐕🦺We have a new facility to visit. It is Artistic Endeavors (491Lake Boulevard, Redding). Here is a description of their service from their website: “We are a highly evolved ART venue for an amazing team of developmentally disabled adults.” We are very happy to support this program. Jana Hamblin is heading up this facility. If you are interested in joining Jana, let me know.
🐕🦺Oakmont of Redding and Quartz Hill Post Acute Care are skipping October visits but will be looking forward to our visiting in November. Both now require proof of COVID vaccination for all volunteers. FYI: Oakmont tests their residents for COVID weekly.
🐕🦺The Veterans Home is open again for visiting teams. Volunteers need proof of COVID vaccination and a weekly COVID test performed by the Veterans Home. If you would like to visit, contact Lee Padden.
🐕🦺The R.EAD program at the Redding Library is going very well. Contact Pam Ward if you are interested in participating.
Sincere “Thank You” to each of you who so faithfully and passionately serve our communities. Stay safe there!
