Messasge from ATD:
"We understand that no one has any control over what is happening nationwide with COVID-19. ATD waived the required 1 visit every 3 months beginning March 1, 2020 in hopes that visits could resume June 1 but that waiver is now extend until September 1, 2020. The subject will be revisited again before September and the decision will be made to resume the requirement or to still suspend it.
ATD will not be suspending the 4 foot leash rule. A four foot leash with your arm extended is the necessary 6' for social distancing. The more leash you have the less control you have of your dog.
We have many members doing drive by visits and parades, outside window visits, virtual visits, sending pictures or postcards to their regular facilities, getting poster cut outs made of their dogs to send to the facility to brighten their days and the creative list keeps growing daily. We are counting those as visits because they most certainly are sharing Smiles and Joy while also respecting the social distancing guidelines put in place by the CDC and facilities we visit.
We are posting the attached Frequently Asked Questions COVID-19 (click link for document) and other emailed updates about COVID-19 in the member portals under member resources.
We know this is hard for everyone to navigate and we are all having to make our own choices about what is right for our family in our individual areas.
