Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
Prescription Pets has been bringing the healing power of pets to communities in Northern California since the year 2000. Our volunteer teams are trained for animal-assisted activities (AAA), animal-assisted therapy (AAT), and Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.) teams. We have teams that visit many locations around Northern California including Mercy Medical Center, St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Red Bluff, Oakmont of Redding Memory Care, Artistic Endeavors, Quartz Hill Post Acute Care, The Veterans Home, the Redding Library and various schools for R.E.A.D..
To become a Therapy Team with your dog we recommend that you take our "How to Become a Therapy Dog Team" workshop. Check out the "WORKSHOPS" page for more information.
To become a Therapy Team you must become certified as a Therapy Dog Team with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. You and your dog must be in good health. Your dog must be: socialized, like people, not reactive to other dogs, predictable, and free from parasites.
